Planning a visit to Walt Disney World? Since the launch of Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass in July 2024, navigating the parks has changed quite a bit. These systems replaced Genie+—and if you’re not up to speed yet, here’s everything you need to know to use them like a pro!

  • Advance Purchase: Guests staying on-property can purchase up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay, while off-property guests can purchase up to 3 days in advance, one day at a time.

  •  Booking Process: Using the My Disney Experience app, guests can book their Lightning Lane Multipass reservations starting at 7am EST.

  • In-Park Use: Once you’ve redeemed your first Lightning Lane Multipass reservation, you can immediately book another. You can hold up to 3 Lightning Lane Multipass reservations at any time.

  • Park Hopping: Guests with a Park Hopper ticket can use Lightning Lane Multipass at multiple parks in the same day, but advance selections must be made for attractions in the same park.

  • Attraction Groups: Attractions at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot are divided into two groups for advance selections; Animal Kingdom does not have groups. For advanced selections, guests can choose one attraction from Group 1 and two attractions from Group 2.

  • Cost: Prices for Lightning Lane Multipass vary by date and can be managed through the My Disney Experience app

Lightning Lane Single Pass (formerly Individual Lightning Lane)

  • Advance Purchase: Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay if staying on-property. Off-property guests can purchase up to 3 days in advance, one day at a time.

  • Booking Window: Reservations can be made starting at 7am EST via the My Disney Experience app.

  • Daily Limit: Guests can purchase up to 2 Lightning Lane Single Passes per day, whether in advance or in the park. However, they can be purchased for any Walt Disney World theme park when a guest has a valid Park Hopper ticket.

  • Cost: Prices vary based on attraction and date; manage purchases through the My Disney Experience app.

 Keep in mind:

  • These changes will officially take effect on July 24, 2024.

  • As part of these changes, character meet and greets and parades will no longer be available as Lightning Lane options.

  • Guests using Lightning Lane Multipass cannot select the same attraction more than once during their visit.

  • Lightening Lane passes are non-refundable and non-transferable

So what do you think about the new name and advance purchase options? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
